The museum’s permanent collection contains more than 3,800 paintings, prints, and sculptures by local, regional, national, and international artists. One collection focus is art of the Ancient Americas, with more than 2,500 years of artistic traditions from West Mexico, the Yucatan Peninsula, and the Peruvian Andes.

Other areas of focus include modern and contemporary art from California, art by women artists, works on paper, and exhibitions reflecting the San Joaquin Valley’s diverse communities. Exhibitions emphasize visual art, including work by local and California artists.

Most are curated in-house and draw from the permanent collection or works borrowed from artists and private collectors. For more city context, see what to see and how to get around downtown Fresno.
